After ...I'm so excited to find your blog today! After several years of dreaming, my boyfriend and I finally bought a tipi, minus the poles, and we plan on living in it year around as soon as we find some land, hopefully by late spring or early summer. I think I read all your updates, but I have lots of questions and apologize for asking anything you might have already answered. How did you transport your 25' poles when you moved south? Did you have to cut them shorter? What kind of vehicle did you use to transport them? Was it a problem keeping yourself decently clean for work during the winter when temps were below zero? I may have to build a shower shelter for that. Maybe with a little heater. How did the refrigeration work out in the cooler/hole-in-the-ground setup you had? Is digging a root cellar of sorts sufficient for keeping food from freezing in the winter or do you just go without those items that can't hold up to being frozen (canned food, produce, etc.)? How did you find people to let you put up a tipi on their land? Did they let you dig an outhouse or did you have some other way of taking care of that issue? Thanks for sharing your stories. It is nice to find a blog about tipi living from a person actually living in a tipi instead of just information on history or construction of a tipi. <br />LauraAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2919633995858015828.post-30355038655027733752010-02-19T22:31:00.199-08:002010-02-19T22:31:00.199-08:00Howdy,
